About the Opportunity/Requirements:
compress Zirus, Inc. is a mid-stage biotech company located in Buford, Georgia that is interested in determining novel host genetic requirements critical for the biology of several Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) pathogens. Zirus, Inc. is actively seeking a laboratory technician with at least 3 years of experience in molecular and cell biology techniques. The incumbent will perform a variety of biochemical and molecular biological techniques in accordance with SOP’s, maintain laboratory notebooks and equipment, and perform analysis and reporting of results, as required. The candidate will also assist in ordering of general laboratory supplies. Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience. A benefits package will be provided.
Requirements:
A bachelor’s or master’s degree with 3 or more years of experience in molecular biology and/or cell biology is required. Demonstration of skill in mammalian cell culture and molecular biology techniques must be documented. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and has the ability to work independently on multiple tasks. The candidate has excellent people skills with the ability to work in a team environment. The selected candidate may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship. Special immunizations may be required to perform BSL-2 laboratory work.
Desired Qualifications:
Technical expertise including DNA and RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, and real-time PCR is desirable. Experience in immunochemistry, virology, and maintaining multiple cell lines is an asset. Familiarity with software packages commonly used in research is preferred.
